We went to Atlantic City, NJ!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back!

Today I feel like talking about a short little road trip that my hubby and I took recently. We had so much fun, and it was a much needed break for both of us.

My husband and I work completely opposite schedules. I work a Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 day job. While he works Sunday-Friday, on second shift. So when he gets home from work; I’m already asleep for the night and he is asleep when I wake up to get ready for work every day. He gets one day per week off (Saturday) and that is the only day that we get to spend together. So it’s safe to say that any extra time that we get to spend together is absolutely cherished, and I miss him so much throughout the week! With that being said, since we work for the same company; we get the same amount of vacation time. We decided to take a week off together at the end of June!

We wanted to take a little road trip, so we decided that we would go check out Atlantic City, NJ for a few days! It was about a 6 hour drive for us, so we packed our bags and headed out!

We stayed at Bally’s, which is right on the boardwalk, which was what we wanted to be closest to. We were on the 43rd floor in the tower, with a city/partial ocean view and it was so cool!

Bally’s, Caesars, and The Claridge are all connected so we were able to walk through all of those hotels/casinos without even stepping foot outside (lol).

Day 1:

We explored the entire boardwalk, we just wanted to do some sightseeing the first day to see what AC had to offer and what restaurants, and shops there were. We were super hungry, so we were looking for a place to grab some dinner. While walking the boardwalk we stumbled upon the Rainforest Cafe, which Travis had raved about to me a few years ago because he had gone to one when we were in high school. So we decided to eat at the rainforest cafe and it was FANTASTIC! The food was great, the service was great and we happened to show up during happy hour; so the drinks were great too! I had the worlds best pina colada! The Rainforest Cafe is awesome, the atmosphere is wonderful and I loved how every so often the lights would flicker like lightening and the sounds of thunder and rain would be played throughout the restaurant, to add to the experience. We got our keepsake photo with their cute frog too.

After dinner we made our way over to the beach to check it out, and of course take some selfies before doing some more site seeing and wandering around the boardwalk area for the afternoon.

Since we were on a little getaway, we weren’t exactly thinking about calories and the amounts of sugar that we consumed were ungodly to say the least but, it was totally worth it! We found a little pastry/ice cream shop in the Caesars hotel and indulged in some of the best gelato we have ever had, one word: DELICIOUS.

That night we wandered down to the other side of the boardwalk where the rides are and the night life was fantastic, we enjoyed the music and of course; the people watching (lol).

Day 2:

We started the day with Starbucks and a walk on the beach because we woke up pretty early and there weren’t many people out and about yet, so we had the whole beach to ourselves. We picked some seashells that we wanted to bring home and add to our collection of sand/shells from all of the beaches that we have been to together. It was a quiet, and relaxing morning. So nice to be able to hold hands, and walk down the beach and just enjoy some early morning silence and watch the waves together. These are the times that I always end up looking back on and smiling over.

We decided to shop on the second day because what’s a vacation without some shopping?! We hit up the Tanger outlet mall and grabbed a few good deals on some shirts, I got a light pink shirt from Loft for literally $2.88. I was pretty excited over my purchases! Who doesn’t love a cute $3 shirt?? Haha

We grabbed some lunch after leaving the outlet mall at a cute little burger place, followed by the most delicious Nutella/cookie butter crepe ever!! This was the first time Travis has ever had a crepe and he loved it!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around the city, checking out the different shops, arcades, casinos.

We found an awesome arcade in the Wild Wild West Casino and played air hockey, and some other games together and ended up spending a ton of time there before heading over to play some slot machines at the casino in our hotel.

By the time we decided to stop spending all of our money at the arcade/casinos, it was time for Happy Hour that we were planning on going to at the Vue rooftop bar and lounge at the Claridge Hotel. We sat on the rooftop and enjoyed our drinks and stayed for a few hours, taking, laughing, and just simply enjoying our time together with some cheap and delicious drinks! It was amazing; it was a bit cloudy when we first arrived, but after about 45 minutes, sun was shining & I couldn’t have pictured a better way to spend that evening.

After this we were a little bit tired because we aren’t big drinkers so we hit the hay soon after we left happy hour after mindlessly devouring an entire pizza in our hotel room lol.

Day 3.

We were going to be headed home on day three, so before leaving we decided we would head across town to the Borgata to check it out; play some slot machines and have lunch before starting the 6 hour drive back home. The borgata is beautiful, full of shops, places to eat, a huge casino; it kept us occupied for quite some time and we almost lost track of time! Lol (the French macaroons pictured below were absolutely fantastic) we got one in each flavor and snacked on them during our drive home.

We made it home safe and sound after a long car ride and we were exhausted! We ordered a pizza and loved on our fur baby and instantly started planning our next little getaway!

Times like these make me so happy, being able to spend some much needed quality time with my husband means so much to me. Only being able to see each other once per week due to our work schedules is tough; so this week off with him was everything we needed and more to reconnect, and slow down a little bit from our busy lives and just enjoy each other.

Where have you traveled to recently? Have you ever been to Atlantic City?

Until next time!!
